Calendar of courses at the Clare Island Yoga Retreat Centre for 2010
|
All
courses start with dinner on the evening of the first day and finish
after brunch on the last day.
Price
includes shared
accommodation, food and tuition (unless otherwise specified, see below
the section on donations).
Transport to
/from the island (i.e you don't have to pay for the boat) and
transport on the
island from
the harbour to the centre is also included as long as you are arriving and
leaving with the group on the pre-arranged ferry. If
you are not travelling on the pre-arrangeded ferry for whatever reason,
you will have to make you own way to the centre. Return ferry is 15
euros, and it's a 30 mn walk or 10 euros taxi run from the harbour to
the centre.
Single room
supplement (subject to availability) is 25 euros
per night and is payable cash on arrival at the centre.
If you require a single room, you may have to stay in a B&B
near the harbour (about a 15 minute cycle--we will lend you a bicycle)
but will, of course, still have all your meals in the centre.
We wish to open our courses to as many people as possible and can offer
a discount on most of the week long courses in exchange for some work, Click here for details on the
karma yoga option.
On all summer courses, it is
possible to camp (bring your own tent). Discount for camping is 20
euros / day.

Donations
On
some courses, the price includes only accommodation and food. The
teachers, rather than charging a fixed teaching fee, choose to rely
instead on the honorary donation system. This is because in a world
where it is presumed that everything must have a price, they feel that
some forms of learning cannot be measured solely in money
terms. However, in order to continue running courses in the
future in the same spirit, we need to make sure that participants
understand that what is being offered is not just a 'cheap' option.
Except in exceptional circumstances, the donation should be
proportionate to the amount of teaching hours on the course, and
related to the normal price of a yoga class (in Ireland between 8 and
16
euros / hour).
Donations are to be paid in cash, directly
to the teacher, at the end of the course. Make sure you bring
an adequate amount of cash as there are no ATMs and
no bank on Clare Island, and most teachers cannot accept cheques or
credit cards.
Discount on summer courses (Karma yoga)
If
you are willing
and able to work in the kitchen, house or garden for a few hours a day,
we can usually offer you a discount. Your duties will include washing
up and cleaning of the kitchen / dinning room after each meal, cleaning
of the yoga room and the student accommodation and possibly helping
with some of the cooking or gardening. We can only take
a maximum of two people per course on this work exchange basis, so it
is best to get in touch with us as soon as possible. Also
note that with this option, you will not have much time to explore the
island in the afternoons. Discount for karma yoga is normally 25 euros
/ day (this may be negotiable, depending on what course is taking place
and how much work you are prepared to do). On all summer
courses, we
also offer a 20 euros / day discount for camping.
We wish to open our
courses to as many people as possible. If you want to come for a
particular course, but because of financial considerations, cannot
afford to, please contact
